What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient oriental treatment believed to have been originated as far back as 6,000 years ago in China, aimed at stimulation of specific points on the body. Thin needles of varying lengths are inserted at specific points, or acupoints, along the meridians of the body. There are twelve major meridians of the body, or energy channels, and they affect every major organ and physiological system inside of us. When the acupoints are stimulated by the needles, healing energy, or “Chi” begins to flow to the location delivering much needed oxygenation and nutrients along with it.
